Commissioned by the Sisters of the Monastery of Sainte Marie de Prouilhe, a sliding felt curtain system was designed to insulate the heart of the Basilica, providing warmth and comfort during prayers year-round.
Developed with Gero Asmuth and Erasmus Scherjon, the installation features four large woollen felt panels chosen for their natural insulation and subtle colour that complements both the Basilica’s limestone and the Sisters’ attire. Mounted on an adapted aluminum rail system, the panels slide smoothly, allowing flexible configurations and neatly tucking into alcoves.
This collaboration fostered mutual inspiration, blending spiritual reflection with thoughtful design to enhance the sacred environment.
