Pine’s

2003

Pine’s was born from the desire to revisit an object as elemental and ubiquitous as the safety pin. A timeless example of industrial mass production, the safety pin was taken back to its essence, its simplest mechanical form, before being reimagined with new meaning and value.

Through hands-on experimentation in the studio, manipulating springs, deforming steel rods, and bending wire, this humble object was explored with a spirit of curiosity and craft. The result: a subtle yet striking intervention that adds a second spring to the original mechanism. This new feature enhances the object both functionally and visually, while maintaining its core purpose.

Silver or gold-plated and produced in small series, this reinterpretation transforms the everyday safety pin into a sculptural piece of jewellery, elevating simplicity through ingenuity and material sensitivity.
