Designed for the Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne, this table was created to host public lectures during the event and later serve as permanent urban furniture at the heart of the Cité du Design—accessible to all beyond the biennale.
Conceived as a single, unified piece, the design features a semi-circular bench integrated into the table structure, encouraging a shared experience reminiscent of an ancient theatre. The inward-facing seating invites the audience to encircle the speaker, fostering a sense of dialogue and inclusion.
The frame is built from a simple metal skeleton supporting wooden slats that form both the table surface and the seating. While referencing the Biennale’s theme, the use of slats—rather than ribbons—offered a tactile, durable response suited for long-term outdoor use.
